Early Goal-Directed Therapy (Sepsis) Program

Activated Protein C (Xigris)

1. Consider recombinant human activated protein C in septic-induced organ failure, high risk of death and APACHE II >=25 or multi-organ failure and no contraindications (2B, 2C if post-operative).
2. Adult patients with severe sepsis and low risk of death (APACHE II <20 and single organ failure) should not receive APC (1A).
