Early Goal-Directed Therapy (Sepsis) Program

DVT Prophylaxis

1. Use LMWH or UFH unless contraindicated (1A)
2. Use mechanic prophylaxis when heparin is contraindicated (1A).
3. Use combination (mechanical and heparin) therapy when pts are very high risk for DVT and when not contraindicated, use LMWH rather than UFH (2C).
